Description

In this engaging butcher block board class, you’ll learn the art of crafting a beautiful and functional wooden cutting board. Our expert instructors will guide you through the process of selecting the finest wood, precision cutting and assembly techniques, and the application of a food-safe finish. By the end of the class, you’ll proudly take home a custom-made butcher block board, perfect for both culinary enthusiasts and aspiring woodworkers.

This class includes a food grade mineral oil finish and engraving of a special message.

Materials

  • Food grade mineral oil

  • Glue

  • Wood (choice of Walnut, Mahogany, or Maple)

  • Rubber feet bumpers

Considerations

Your final board size will be approximately 18”L x 11”W x 2”H. You may utilize up to two thin accent piece of either Purple Heart or Paduak wood. It’s important to note that the board’s shape is restricted to a rectangle with routed edges. Additionally, please keep in mind that the finish for this board must be a food-safe oil, and no other finish can be substituted due to the intended use of the board. Laser engraving is limited to two lines of straight text along with our logo. This 4 hour class includes a 2 hour lunch break in order to allow the glue to dry.

Please remember that wood is a naturally sourced material and may contain flaws or imperfections.

Attire

For your safety and protection, please ensure that you wear tight-fitting shirts, long pants, and closed-toed shoes throughout the class. During heavy machine and power tool operations, it is imperative to tie back long hair, roll up long sleeves, and wear hearing and eye protection. You are welcome to bring your own protective gear, or you may use the ones we provide free of charge.

Duration: ~4 hours (Please note that this is an estimation that may differ based on your proficiency and learning speed.)

Class Fee: $249 

You do not need to attend a safety orientation in order to attend a class.
